AMA Safety Patrol
Since 1937, generations of School Safety patrollers have kept Albertans safe. Today close to 16 000 grade five and six students, and their school supervisors, have committed to help keep students safe on their way to, and from, school. AMA School Safety patrollers assist pedestrians and prevent students from entering traffic.
DID YOU KNOW - Each year in Alberta, there are more than: 100,000 traffic collisions and 400 people who die. In the entire history of the AMA School Safety Patrol program, there have been 0 serious injuries or fatalities while patrollers were on duty.
At Grandview we have 27 grade five students who have volunteered and took the training in September to become a School Safety patroller. At the end of every school day, a team of three patrollers and an adult supervisor patrol the crosswalk at 43 Avenue and 46 Street. Watch for their yellow and orange vests and please slow down.
