Thanks to our Parent Council and donations from various organizations GV students receive a nutritious morning snack. We try our very best to keep the sugar under 10g/sugar/serving and must be nut free.
A staff member places a basket full of healthy choices at the start of each day inside each classroom. Students are encouraged to help themselves and no child is ever made to feel like they are different or poor or needy. There is an absolute sense of community and caring with this type of approach to hunger and every child is given the opportunity to have a positively powerful day of learning.
Typical food items that we provide and are always accepting: Chocolate Chip and/or Cranberry Granola bars, Mott's Fruitsation Mushy Fruit Cups, Dole Fruit Cups, SunRype Fruit Strips, Kellogg's Fruit Crisps, SunMaid Individual Raisin boxes, Black Diamond Cheese Strings, Kirkland Assorted yogurt Cups, Danone Yogurt Tubes, and Minigo Individual Yogurt.
A huge thanks to the following organization that have donated to our Breakfast Program: The Red Deer Fire Fighers, Farm Credit Corportion, Alberta Blue Cross - Red Deer Branch, Red Deer Public School Foundation and Grandview Parent Council.
