KEE (Kids Energizing Education)
Kids Energizing Education (KEE)
KEE was formed in 2014-15 to enhance leadership opportunities for our grade five students here at GV. Grade five students are encouraged in early September to submit a 5-7 sentence paragraph indicating why they should have the opportunity to become a KEE member. Students are selected based on their written paragraph submission, and leadership skills that have been displayed in the first few weeks of school and from previous years. New grade five students to GV need not fear as we will call your previous school to find out your leadership abilities so you too can have the opportunity to join. This group can range in size however it means a committment that takes away recess and lunch hours and sometimes after school as well.
Starting in 2014-15, KEE students were mostly responsible for the monthly assemblies, acting as the master of ceremonies (MC) for the events as well as organizing and running the various awards and celebrations that occur. Posters were typically created and placed around the school as well as classroom visits to pump up our events. KEE students at the beginning of the school year selected our school spirit days that coincided with our assemblies. KEE students also sold popcorn to raise money for Central Alberta Women's and to offset some of the costs of the KEE program (i.e. T-shirts, pizza party, purchase of popcorn machine, etc...). KEE gave a cheque to Central Alberta Women's in June for a grand total of $642.80.
