Ensuring student learning takes a team approach at Grandview. Teachers collaborate with their grade partners to confirm outcomes in the Alberta Program of Studies which are critical to student success. They plan instruction, effective assessment, and interventions for students who are having difficulty with a concept the first time around.
Teachers are supported by an in-house Instructional Design (ID) teacher who is available to help address the increasing complexity of today's classroom and the need to differentiate instuction. Grandview's Learning Assistance Teacher (LAT) provides additional assistance when Individual Support Plans (ISP's) are necessary. This 'tier 2' intervention further ensures that students are accessing the support services they need to succeed. Positive behaviour expectations are taught, modelled, and celebrated through our CARE values and regulated through a system of Positive Behaviour Intervention and Supports (PBIS).
When family challenges complicate learning for our students our Community Liaison Worker (CLW) provides support to families. Each week, school administration, teachers, ID, LAT, CLW, and representatives from district office meet to discuss any student needing support.
It's all about doing everything we can to ensure students are making the greatest gains possible each year.
